The Summer of Love Experience: Art Fashion and Rock & Roll

San Francisco is once again staging its much-anticipated summer of love experience, an exhibit of art and fashion and rock and roll.  But this time bigger and better than ever. This year, for its 50th anniversary celebration, the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco promises the locals of San Francisco to have electrifying exhibits. It’s like an ultimate throwback of the yesteryears, a presentation of the kaleidoscopic culture that started in the San Francisco summer of 1967. Feast your eyes with an array of iconic rock posters and photographs. Be amazed by the music and light shows. And lastly, be mesmerized by the costumes and textiles and avant-garde films.
During the years of the 1960s, artists from different industries gather at Haight Ashbury with dreams of making a new social paradigm. Hundreds of thousands of people then flock the place until this place became then a rendezvous artists and playground for their activities. During the period, developments in the field of arts, fashion, music and politics have significantly changed. It was also during this period when the “San Francisco Sound” was introduced. The kind of music that blossomed in the region. Some of the works of the well-known rock poster artists like Rick Griffin, Alton Kelley, Victor Moscoso, Stanley Mouse, and Wes Wilson have generated a unique array of works. Local innovators in the field of fashion like  Birgitta Bjerke, aka 100% Birgitta; Mickey McGowan, aka the Apple Cobbler; Burray Olson; and Jeanne Rose introduced a breakthrough in fashion designing using a range of techniques.
The Summer of Love Experience: Arts, Fashion, and Rock & Roll is just a sweet reminder of San Francisco local’s pivotal role in changing the landscape in the art and fashion industry and in voicing out the beat of the nation.
